I've been painting for most of my life. Some time ago my interest in primitive painting led me towards a simplification of form which has taken me to a new level of expression.

My paintings are mostly studies of objects or living things that interest me. So far the subject of my paintings have included cows, cakes, hens, pink houses, landscapes and circus tents to name but a few.

My brush strokes are heavily laden. I hit the canvas with irregular touches of the brush which I leave as they are, patches of thickly laid-on colour, creating a sense of movement, a flickering light, the freshness of an immediate impression. I prefer to capture the feeling, the fleeting moment, rather than the meticulous, clinical detail.

Painting is a florid language for me.
